It's that time of year again......

The time of year to pull out all the supplies and start baking houses for the holidays. I have to admit, I'm kind of having a hard time getting motivated but, while Scott was away at a UC football game, I got started and put together eight houses. When I was finished, the kitchen floor was crunchy with sugar. I ended the evening with some champagne and a movie. It was a nice, quiet Saturday!

Julie get's a computer of her own!

Although I have used a computer at work for many years, I have never had one of my own. I had a birthday recently and I decided that this was the year to get one. With birthday funding from several generous benefactors, I am now the proud new owner of a time waster!

I am currently working on a miniature dollhouse in the 1":1'ft ratio. About 25 years ago, I had a dream that I had a miniature dollhouse. It was a very detailed one and then I woke up from the dream and thought "wow, I want one of those" so, I bought a kit and put it together. It had wiring in it where you could put real working miniature lights in each room. I didn't get to the decorating and finishing part. I ran a daycare at the time and the children would think it was their toy and I finally had to put it in the basement for awhile. That was a big mistake because the moisture caused it to fall apart or, maybe it was my lack of construction experience.... Anyway, over the years I have gone to a few miniature shows and collected some pieces with the intention of someday starting another house. About 10 years ago I found one at a consignment shop, already put together but no interior design and was painted pink. It sat in storage for all this time. One day, while remarking to Scott, that I am kind of bored and that I feel like I'm not accomplishing anything - no crafts project, etc. The next day I pulled out the house and started thinking that maybe this was the motivation I needed to get something done. I went on-line to do a little surfing and found this miniature site where they tutor you how to make food from Fimo clay to use use in a dollhouse. I made a cake that looks real! I made peaches that look even more real. Every day I would come up with something new and show Scott and he would just roll his eyes back in his head and say, "that's nice, Julie". These accomplishments made me just want to do more so, I repainted the house blue with white trim and began to put in hardwood flooring. The next thing was to wallpaper and paint the bedroom, which you can see on this blog. Now I am totally out of control and will be working on the rest of the house, one room at a time. I will feature my work in progress for everyone to see how truly insane I really am.
